Audio, Video call from X (twitter) ... coming soon ...
Elon Muck announces Audio, Video call feature on X
Tech Nova
Elon Musk, the tech billionaire and CEO of X (formerly known as Twitter), announced on Thursday that the platform will soon be adding audio and video call features. This comes after company CEO Linda Yaccarino mentioned that X would be getting a video calling feature. The audio and video calling feature on X will be available on Android, iOS, PCs, and Macs, and it won't require a phone number to make calls.
In a post, Musk stated, "Video & audio calls coming to X: - Works on iOS, Android, Mac & PC - No phone number needed - X is the effective global address book. That set of factors is unique." With this new feature, users on X will be able to make video and audio chat calls, similar to Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp, as X transitions to become an "everything app." The company CEO had previously mentioned that video calls on the platform would be available without sharing phone numbers.
Since acquiring the platform, Musk has expressed his plans to turn "Twitter" into an "everything app," including the introduction of 25,000-character-long posts. Along with renaming Twitter to X, Musk also renamed the aggregating platform TweetDeck to XPro. The renaming announcement was made on July 28 through a tweet where Musk stated, "Name is changing to XPro. Will come with a wide range of psy op plugins."
The rebranding of the micro-blogging platform from Twitter to X, along with the change in the logo from the "iconic" bird to an "X," resulted in a decline in weekly active users. According to a report by TechCrunch citing data from SensorTower, there was a four percent decrease in X's weekly active users in the weeks following the rebranding. However, the number of downloads did not decrease.
