iPhone 15 / 15 Plus - TIPS, TRICKS & HIDDEN FEATURES!!!
This is the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. They come with a huge 48-megapixel camera, some cool new USB-C tricks, and a dynamic island. There are many tips and tricks you can do with these phones. Let's get straight into it.
Dynamic Island
The dynamic island is a new feature on the iPhone base models. It allows you to answer calls or adjust settings by tapping and holding down on the audio icon. If someone calls you and the call shows up in fullscreen, you can change it to a banner in the settings, and all future calls will show up in the dynamic island. You can also use the dynamic island to control your Apple Music or Spotify, swipe left to get rid of the audio graphic, and swipe right to bring it back. It also works with maps, so you can see directions while listening to music.
You can customize the dynamic island using an app called Block Launcher. It allows you to add app shortcuts and system shortcuts to the dynamic island. Another app called Pixel Pals lets you have a little pixel pet that lives in and around your dynamic island. You can feed it and play with it.
USB-C Tricks
The new iPhone 15 has a USB-C port that allows you to charge your phone using any USB-C cable. But it also lets you charge other accessories like an Apple Watch or AirPods. You can even plug in a USB-C flash or hard drive and transfer pictures or files. You can also use other USB-C accessories like a microphone, fan, or light.
Contact Cards
You can now create custom contact cards on the iPhone. You can choose from a photo, emoji, or monogram. You can customize it further by choosing different filters and changing the font thickness and color. You can share your contact card with friends and family, and it will show up on their phones when you call them.
Sharing Files
You can instantly share your contact card using an app called Name Drop. Just bring two iPhones together, and it will bring up both contact cards. You can swap contact details or transfer files. It works with website links as well.
48 Megapixel Camera
The iPhone 15 has a 48-megapixel camera that allows for more detailed and high-resolution photos. You can toggle the resolution control in the settings to use all 48 megapixels. The pictures are only around 5 megabytes, so you can take shots in 48 megapixels without taking up too much space. The camera also has a new two-time zoom feature and three different frame sizes: ultra-wide, wide, and telephoto.
One of the best new features of the camera is the F icon that pops up when someone steps into the frame.
What this does is if you take a pic with the f icon it captures all the depth info which you can do a lot with. Let me show you. If you take a pic of a person, dog, or cat and the f icon pops up, what you can now do is head into that photo and actually edit its depth info by tapping on this new portrait icon. So you can adjust how much blur you'd like to have in your image. But on top of that, you can actually change the focus by tapping on different subjects.
Another trick not many people know is if you tap on an object, you'll also capture that depth info. So if you ever want to edit the focus or blur of any picture, just make sure that the f icon appears before snapping the pic.
Another quick tip that's brand new is if you zoom into an image, you'll now notice this crop icon on the top right-hand side. And once you tap it, it'll instantly crop that image to create a brand new picture.
Now onto another brand new and really epic feature that you can find within settings is called standby. As soon as you turn this on, it basically turns your phone into the coolest digital clock as soon as you start charging it. This is all thanks to the new iOS 17 update. But again, what not many people know is just how much you can actually customize the standby mode.
Another thing I definitely suggest you do is go inside the battery settings and the battery health and charging. Then tap on charging optimization and make sure to turn this on. This way, if you use standby mode and keep your phone on charge for the entire night, you won't need to worry about your battery getting damaged because it was on charge for so long.
Now I've got to show you guys a few new calling tricks starting with FaceTime video calls. Because now, if you hold up a gesture with your hands, you'll get this really cool new reaction animation. And you get a ton of different gestures. So you can hold a thumbs up, a thumbs down, or get a different reaction if you hold two thumbs up or two thumbs down.
If you make a little heart with your hands, you'll get the heart animation. And rock and roll gestures will activate these lasers. One peace sign for some balloons or two peace signs for some confetti. So you definitely have to try some of these gestures out. This works without turning anything on, so you can go ahead and have fun with it straight away.
If you're too busy to FaceTime, then you'll also find this new live voicemail feature when someone calls you. Basically, what happens is as soon as you tap that, it sends them straight to your voicemail. But you'll actually be able to see and read exactly what it is they're saying on the voicemail.
A quick tip: if you don't see this voicemail button when someone calls, just head into general settings, then language and region, and make sure your region is set to the United States.
If you ever want to instantly call or message someone, then I'd definitely suggest you add the contact widget. If you tap and hold it, you can then edit the widget and choose whatever contacts you'd like to have available. But more importantly, make sure to toggle on show buttons. So now you can just shoot someone a message or call them straight up from your home screen.
And speaking of home screen, there's actually a new hidden trick you can do with this. So let's just say you're busy customizing your home screen and adding a widget but move some things around by mistake. Well, now if you shake your phone, you'll get this little popup icon that asks you if you'd like to undo what you just did. Super useful.
Also inside your settings, if you head into your Siri section and into Listen 4, you can change this option to just Siri. Now, whenever you need to talk to Siri, instead of saying the whole "Hey" thing, just say "Siri".
Another really cool setting you definitely got to check out is within privacy and security. Once in here, if you scroll all the way to the bottom, you'll see the sensitive content warning. Make sure you toggle this on because in the future if anyone sends you a naughty photo within messages, your iPhone will actually scan it and blur that image to keep your eyes clean and safe.
Wow, honestly, this is like the perfect iPhone right now because of all its new features, kind of making it feel more like the pro.
